Faster car does not mean cleaner body - research

photo:Andreas gursky,2007

The picture above from photographer Andreas Gursky shows the breathtaking curves of a racing track in the desert. It is showing a flat reality as a poetic critic of our globalized, fast society that I enjoyed talking as a starting points. As the project developed, I started to think about accidents and collapsing, the outward force away experienced when taking a curve at high speed. The garments were developed out of very flat patterns with a minimum of separate pieces, that were folded in curving movement and incised.I transformed the fabrics using what I would call "destructive techniques", compressing, heating and scratching.
